What Galactic Musk is
Galactic Musk is our take on the original vector asteroids game: a ship in the middle of the screen, rocks drifting in from the edges, and momentum that does not care what you have decided to do next. Shoot a big rock and it splits into smaller, faster ones, so clearing the screen gets busier before it gets quieter.
The ship has thruster physics rather than straight steering. You point the nose and burn, and then you are moving that way until you turn around and burn the other way. Learning to tap the thruster instead of holding it is the difference between a short game and a long one.
Hyperspace drops you somewhere random on the screen. It gets you out of a corner you could not have escaped, and roughly one time in five it puts you straight into a rock. It is in the game for exactly that reason.
How to play
- Press Enter to start.
- Rotate with left and right, and burn with up.
- Fire with Space. Big rocks break into smaller, quicker ones.
- Hit Shift or Down for hyperspace when you are out of room, and accept the risk.
- Clear the screen and the next wave arrives with more rocks.
Controls
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| Left / Right | Rotate |
| Up | Thrust |
| Space | Fire |
| Shift or Down | Hyperspace |
| Enter | Start |
| P / M | Pause / mute |
On a phone or tablet: On a phone the five controls appear as buttons under the screen: rotate both ways, thrust, hyperspace and fire.
Tips
- Tap the thruster. Held down, it builds a speed you cannot steer out of.
- Shoot the big rocks last if the screen is already busy. Splitting them makes more targets, not fewer.
- Keep to the middle. The edges wrap, but the middle gives you every direction to run.
- Hyperspace is a last resort, not a dodge.
Questions
Can I turn the sound off?
Yes, press M or use the sound button at the top of the game.
Nothing in this game costs money, and there is no account to make. See the parents' guide for what is in it, or the privacy policy for what we store (almost nothing).
